TauFu Hua, Taman Eng Ann Klang

Now most of you would have figured out by now that I am CRAZY over Klang Bak Kut Teh. Well this is not an entry on BKT unfortunately, but rather on what I normally have after a nice BKT breakfast in Klang on Sunday mornings. Yes, I visit the Taufu Hua uncle in Taman Eng Ann everytime I have Sunday morning BKT.

This particular Taufu Hua stall in located along the Pasar Pagi stretch in Taman Eng Ann every Sunday mornings. His taufu hua would certainly be one of the best in town; silky, flavorful & CHEAP! Only RM1.80 per serving...who says you cant get cheap good food anymore these days?

From my conversations with the uncle, he only selects organic soya beans to make his taufu hua, which is why they are extra yummy & flavourful, and also without the floury taste. Oh and did I mention that this guy adds gula melaka into his taufu hua upon request? Wonderful right?

Uncle sells soya milk & herbal jelly as well. The soya milk is something you must try everytime you are here. Filled with the natural fragrance of soya beans, this is the perfect protein shake and cheaop too, just RM2 per bottle. Dont play play eh...

Besides, where to find a friendly face like this nowadays?

Oh did I mention he uses the traditional wooden barrel to transport the goods? Old school sia...reminds me of my childhood whenever I visit him...not long ago ofcoz hahaha

Damn nice this taufu hua stall...perfect for morning tea or just chill with a friend or two...

Heres a map of the pasar pagi where the stall in located for you. Just along Jalan Kawasari 4 in the Eng Ann town centre, you cant miss it. His stall should be fairly easy to find as he is the only one selling taufu hua there. No tel provided ofcoz.

Blue Sky Tapioca Noodles, Klang

Whats better than noodles? My answer: tapioca noodles! These stringy & super gluey noodles may look, & feel disgusting when dipped in water, somehow like a snake's skin, but they sure taste damn well in the hands of a master chef!I was introduced to this place in Klang which does just that by my dad, and finally I had the chance to experience the noodles there live for myself.

It was kinda hard finding the place, nonetheless we reached there just in time to beat the dinner crowd. It is very easy to miss as this is actually a home operated business, literally built on a corner lot house, something quite common in the older parts of Klang. There is this big banner in front of the place just in case you couldn't find it. Seating is OK, plastic stools & almost broken wooden tables are fine by me.

We ordered 2 kinds of tapioca noodles, dry & wet style. They fried the noodles with various seafood...REAL seafood not those factory generated fish balls crap, fresh veg, fried garlic & lots & lots & lots of pork lard! Super yummy! The contrast between the crunchy pork lard and the smoothing noodles is simply fab. I prefer the dry one as the pork lard retains all of its juiciness & wonderful aroma...those of you who prefers something light would like the wet type. Nonetheless they are both very very good.

The seafood served here are all very fresh, you wouldn't come to Klang to have seafood and get unfresh seafood on your plates. They choose to deep fry the "chicken fish" 鸡鱼" with deep friend garlic. Might sound very oily but it goes very well with the noodles. Strange but true. Once you bite into the fresh, the oiliness somehow get neutralized by the fresh meat making it oh-my-gawd-so-damn-good.

deep fried fish with garlic...LOTS of garlic!

We had the sweet potato leaves & deep fried mantis prawns to complete our meals. Veg was fresh & crispy, although a little bit too salty for me. The mantis prawns....another typical disaster of putting too much flour...its more like having flour balls with traces of prawn...not good.

normal lah the veg...

whats with KLang people & mantis prawns?not good friends?

Places like this are the reasons why i love Klang so much. Honest people earning honest money by offering great meals, using the best ingredients available charging a fair amount in return. It only cost 4 of us less than RM30 for the meal, with herbal tea for everyone.

Here's a map for you readers. The place is located at the corner lot house at the end of Jalan Kelichap 43, opposite Petronas and next to Klang Parade. No numbers provided as the owners did not want too many customers...lol

Teluk Pulai Bak Kut Teh, Taman Rashna Klang

Ming the Singaporean came over for a visit recently, and being a hardcore Klang bak kut teh fan I insist he try out the real deal in Klang...so there we were after meeting up at Carrefour Subang, the dog drove Ming, hy, & Seremban boy Teng all the way down to Klang.

I choose the Teluk Pulai Bak Kut Teh restaurant located in Taman Rashna Klang because this has become one of my favorite bak kut teh places in Klang due to its superb soup mix & high quality pork parts.

We ordered 4 person portion of small bone (细骨)& flower meat (五花肉)...just the bak kut teh for us as I don't really fancy having vege as part of the meal...of course rice, yao tiew (油条), & kop poh (菊堡)tea are all a must.

We waited for about 10minutes before our food arrived...and everything was gone within 20mins! and of course being new to the food blogging world I forgot to snap a picture when the food arrived...only know how to eat lolz

Theres nothing better than having your rice soaked with the soup, some wet yao tiew & meat...the picture above is mine...the one below belongs to Ming...notice the greedy Singaporean overloading his plate!!!

All of us had a really good time that morning...pity Jonny Teh who couldnt wake up that morning...poor thing. Nothing like 4 happy faces and my bowl of BKT soup to sum it all up!

Heres a map of the place for you readers:

Doggyjames says: Must try for all bak kut teh lovers! the only reason to wake up at 7am on a lazy weekend morning.
