Perhentian Island Vacation

For those who know me personally, you would have known that i am in a really stressful ball-busting line of work (marketing...not selling balls). So before i am hospitalized for overstressed...a nice little holiday was needed. Perhentian Island was chosen as the destination simply because its beauty is just legendary. Plus, it is still considered underdeveloped so it would be a very spot for anyone to just relax and escape from the hustle & bustle of the city life.

Me & a few friends decided to share this holiday together. And on a nice gloomy Friday morning, we were off to Kota Bahru via Air Asia. It took us a good 2.5 hours journey plus van to the jetty before we could even see the place.

Boy was the trip worth it. I instantly felt energised the moment we stepped on the white sand beach...smelling the freshesh air I've ever breath in and just looking at the crystal blue sea...We choose to stay in this resort, which really is a wooden hut with air cond...exactly what we wanted. Nothing to remind us to the busy city life, just simple living & enjoying the serenity there (not to mentioned RM5 worth of mineral water bottles).

Perhentian Island is famous for its clean, clear seawater & wonder underwater life. Naturally we had to go for its snorkeling trips. The package includes an around-the-island snorkeling trip to 2 coral spots, a turtle spot & a sharks spot. IT WAS WONDERFUL. To be frank I have a little bit of underwater-phobia after a personal encounter with a great white in Aussieland...but after some encouragement from my friends & internal battle, i jump straight in. Simply awesome...the only regret i had was not having an underwater camera. The corals, although not much, was absolutely gorgeous...you would somehow have a sense of peacefulness when your in the water, looking at the sea life below and just listening to nothing at all...Here are the photos from my snorkeling adventure...

The stretch of beach we were at had quite a number of independent cafes & restaurants selling your normal dose of cold drinks & kampung style food. Lots of foreigners hanging around there. We decided to hide in one of those places which, turned out to be a very good photo taking spot.

Dinner was covered by the resort, and it was very nice of them to provide a full BBQ buffet for us. The seafood was very fresh and compliments to the chefs for their efforts. Noticed I didn't take any food photos...I was pretty drunk after taking full advantage of their RM10-per bottle beers...hehehe...nonetheless it was a very relaxing experience...sitting under the stars ans just enjoying our meal...without a worry in the world at all...

The resort offered a very nice jungle tracking experience for us...twice a day. One before dinner time & the other for sunrise. The walk up was tiring but not a problem for yours truely...lolz...yea I was panting like a bull but the view at the end was magnificent. I have lost words for it so I'll just let the photos do the talking...Don't these photos make you wanna move to the beach right away...?

And...whats a trip to a beautifully peaceful island without some stupid camwhore experiences? :)

Perhentian Island is really a fantastic place to just have some much needed R&R for us city people. And its not that expensive as well...a RM100 per night resort would be more than enough for you to stay in, with their own beaches and very good basic facilities. Don't expect The Four Seasons Hotel but really, this is so much better than those 5 star hotels.

Go. Indulge yourselves.

Doggyjames says....well...nothing to say really. No words seem to give justice to this beautiful little island...it is just...magnificent.

Oh by the way...expect at least 2 weeks of being the blackest among your friends after your Perhentian trip. Heres a photo of me & another friend who went to a different Perhentian trip among our white white friends. Advise? Use ALOT of sunscreen.
